Create Austin is an extension of the Long Center for Performing Arts. It is operated by their Community Programs Department and serves as a third-party administrator for five cultural funding initiatives run by the City of Austin’s Economic Development Department. 


This webpage is for Austin area residents interested in applying to one of the five City of Austin's Cultural Funding grant programs, which are funded with Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT). Hotel Occupancy Tax is collected statewide from hotels and other tourist-related accommodation providers to support and promote the very cultural activities that attract tourism and conventions to our cities. Notes for Nexus Applicants

Fiscal Sponsors: If you wish to employ a fiscal sponsor, please read this guide on Fiscal Sponsorship. Your fiscal sponsor must be the one to submit your application. This means you must have a fiscal sponsor arrangement in place before you begin your application process.

Entering an EIN: Submittable gives the option for organizations with an Employee Identification Number (EIN) to enter it before they begin their application. However, this is not a required step! If you do not have an EIN, you can easily choose to skip straight to the Eligibility Quiz. See the image below for instructions:

Nexus representa una subvención otorgada por la Ciudad de Austin que proporciona $5,000 a pequeñas organizaciones locales emergentes, artistas individuales y pequeñas empresas artísticas para el desarrollo de actividades públicas creativas.


 

Se insta a los interesados a consultar las  Directrices del Programa Nexus y los Detalles Adicionales del Programa previo al inicio del proceso de solicitud.


 

En caso de optar por la contratación de un patrocinador fiscal, este deberá ser el encargado de presentar la solicitud. Esto implica que el adjudicatario debe establecer un acuerdo de patrocinio fiscal antes de iniciar el proceso de solicitud. Salvo que se solicite información específicamente relacionada con el Patrocinador Fiscal, todas las preguntas se refieren al "Proyecto Patrocinado", también conocido como el "Artista" o el "Solicitante".


 

La convocatoria de solicitudes finaliza a las 7:00 p.m. CST del martes 14 de mayo de 2024. Es posible regresar y modificar la solicitud hasta esta fecha. Una vez enviada la solicitud, podrán enviarnos un mensaje a través de su perfil para solicitar permisos de edición. No obstante, no se permitirán modificaciones una vez cerrada la convocatoria.

Para consultas relativas a las pautas del programa de subvenciones, requisitos de elegibilidad o contenido de la solicitud, dirigirse a culturalarts@austintexas.gov. La División de Artes Culturales ofrece horarios de oficina virtuales en Zoom todos los martes de 10 a.m. a 12 p.m., y los lunes y martes de 10:30 a.m. a 4 p.m. antes del cierre de la convocatoria.

El Departamento de Desarrollo Económico ha designado a Almost Real Things como Amplificador Comunitario para la subvención Nexus, ofreciendo un valioso soporte en la redacción desubvenciones y la capacitación en solicitudes.

Nexus is a City of Austin Grant that offers $5,000 for new and emerging local small organizations, individual artists, and small arts businesses to produce creative public activities. 


 

Please view the Nexus Program Guidelines and Additional Program Details before you begin your application. Please also visit the Create Austin Nexus site for further resources to support your application.
 

If you want to employ a fiscal sponsor, they must be the one to submit this application. This means the awardee must have a fiscal sponsor arrangement in place BEFORE they begin the application process.  Unless the application asks for information specifically relating to the Fiscal Sponsor, all questions are about the 'Sponsored Project', also known as the 'Artist' or 'Applicant'.
 

This application closes at 7:00pm CST on Tuesday, May 14th, 2024. Before you submit, you will be able to return and make edits to your application until this date. Once you submit your application, you can message us through your profile to request edit access. However, no edits can be made to your application after the application closes.

The Cultural Arts Division's Virtual Office Hours are held on Zoom every Tuesday, 10am – 12pm, and from 10:30am - 4pm the Monday and Tuesday before an application closes.
