Create Austin is an extension of the Long Center for Performing Arts. It is operated by their Community Programs Department and serves as a third-party administrator for five cultural funding initiatives run by the City of Austin


This webpage is for Austin area residents interested in applying to one of the five City of Austin's Cultural Funding grant programs, which are funded with municipal Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT). Hotel Occupancy Tax is collected statewide from hotels and other tourist-related accommodation providers to support and promote the very cultural activities that attract tourism and conventions to our cities. For more detailed information on each grant program, please click on the program you are interested in above. On the Create Austin website - you will find a Resource Hub with documents to support your application.

To begin an application, please click 'Apply' and take the short eligibility quiz. If you are eligible, you can continue with the application. If you have any questions about your application, please email applicationhelp@thelongcenter.org or call 512-457-5161.

Note for Elevate and Thrive Applicants

The Elevate Grant and Thrive Grant are two different programs. However, eligible non-profits will submit their application for both programs through one form (seen below). If you are awarded Thrive, you will be removed from the Elevate applicant pool. If you are not awarded Thrive, you will remain in the Elevate applicant pool. Award decisions for both programs will be released at the same time.
